Hand Washing Contact Lenses
You must clean your contact lenses properly, and often, if you want to avoid painful and dangerous eye
infections.
Washing Soft Contact Lenses
- Wash your hands thoroughly and dry on a clean (or paper) towel.
- Remove right or left contact lens and place in the middle of your palm.
- Add 3 or 4 drops of multipurpose cleaning solution to surface of lens.
- Using the index finger of your free hand, gently rub the cleaning solution into the lens for about 30
seconds.
- Rinse the contact lens with multipurpose cleaning solution, place lens in its case and then fill up case
with more cleaning solution.
- Repeat for the other contact lens.
Washing Hard Contact Lenses
- Wash your hands thoroughly and dry on a clean (or paper) towel.
- Remove your right or left contact lens and place in the center of your palm.
- Add 2 to 4 drops of hard contact lens cleaning solution to the surface of the lens.
- Using the index finger of your other hand, gently rub solution into the hard contact lens for about 30
seconds.
- Carefully rinse the lens thoroughly with fresh tap water. Place the hard lens in its lens case, then fill
the lens case with hard contact lens conditioning solution.
- Repeat with the other contact lens.
