How Do Toric Lens Work ?
You asked, how do toric lens work ?
Toric contact lenses are used to help with astigmatism, an eye defect where sufferers have blurred or distorted
vision. But how do toric lens work?
If you have to strain or squint to see clearly, keep reading... Do you see shadows surrounding letters, or do you
see double?
These are all signs of astigmatism, a problem where the curve of the eyeball's cornea (lens) is incorrectly
shaped.
How do toric lens work, then? Toric contact lenses are manufactured to have two different lens power in one, and
they have to be fitted to the eyeball so they cannot move around.
RGP toric lenses hold their shape especially well and grip the eyeball. This gives you the sharpest possible
vision.
The soft style of Toric contact lens is often weighted at the bottom. It is free to move a bit when you blink or
swivel your eyes, but it always settles with the heavy part at the bottom.
Your optometrist or eye doctor will be able to advise you more fully than this brief description.
