Removing Rigid Contact Lenses
The procedure for removing rigid contact lenses is pretty much a straightforward procedure.
Wash your hands, thoroughly, with plain soap (or a special liquid soap purchased for contact lens eye care).
Do not use any soap containing any deodorant, cream, lotion, oil, or perfume... as this can sting or irritate
your eye and must be avoided.
- Remove the first rigid contact lens from one eye.
- Place that lens in cleaning solution.
- Remove the second rigid contact lens from your other eye.
- Place that second lens in cleaning solution as well. Contact Lens Cleaner.
- Carry out your regular cleaning procedure on both lenses.
- Rinse both contact lenses with Saline.
- Finally, disinfect your rigid contact lenses in Soaking Solution.
This sounds like an awful lot of trouble to go to, but it is necessary to keep your eyes healthy. They are very
delecate, and can easily become scratched by dust and debris that builds up on your contact lenses.
That's why removing rigid contact lenses is such a demanding procedure. It helps to keep your eyes safe, which
is a small price to pay.
