Removing a Stuck Contact Lens

When removing a stuck contact lens, remember that the lens is mostly water. So, because your lens is mostly water, it sticks to wet things better than to dry things.

If you try removing a stuck contact lens with a dry finger, it can be very difficult.

You see (no pun intended), the lens and the eye are wet. And wet things like to stick together with other wet items.

So try wetting your finger-tip with a drop of saline solution... or distilled (pure, germ-free) water.

Now, if you touch the contact lens with the wet part of that finger, your contact lens should stick to your finger... And it will come out of your eye so much easier when you try to pull it off the eyeball!

This is a job where using force just won't work. Not unless you plan on a cornea transplant immediately afterwards. (That's a joke. Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Always remember to consult your eye doctor if the stuck contact lens doesn't come out of your eye easily after several tries.
